Electricity has been brought to 1,738 families in 14 communities neighboring the hydroelectric plant through this project.

San Pedro Carchá, September 25, 2024. In a commemorative event, public presentation was made of the completion of the project Public-Private Partnership for Rural Electrification, to 14 communities that were part of this participatory process, with the local government and companies. The objective of this partnership was to coordinate the implementation of a project to give electric power, essential for the development of education, health, and the economy, to these communities

The energy project began in 2017 through coordination, participation, and involvement of all parties, bringing electric power service to 1,738 families.

ENERGUATE is committed to supporting Guatemalan households to have access to regular, stable and affordable energy, without exception, and it does that by implementing and financing rural electrification projects that bring electricity to the areas furthest from urban centers.

HIDROELÉCTRICA RENACE aims to generate impact investments that drive sustainable development, thereby promoting access to affordable, safe and sustainable energy.

THE SAN PEDRO CARCHÁ MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT is committed to promoting the development of the municipality.

The project was developed in different phases:

  1. Feasibility study and establishment of the partnership
  2. Prioritization and dissemination in the beneficiary communities
  3. Reconversion in 3 communities
  4. Construction in the 14 communities, culminating in the first quarter of 2024.

The response of the communities reached has been positive. They now have the benefits of electricity to improve individual and social well-being, activate the local economy with the establishment of productive projects and enterprises, and be a part of the economic progress of the region.
